Facebook Groups for Entrepreneurs

When I started writing this list, I have to admit, I was a little skeptical that posting in groups even worked. I mean, what is the point of posting to groups when those people aren’t in your niche?

It didn’t take long for me to completely understand.

First and foremost, I am a marketing geek. I watch trends and algorithms like my life depends on it. This has been a trend I have bucked for a while.

Secondly, I felt like sending a lot of traffic to my site, only for them to leave, would work against me. You definitely want people to stay for as long as possible because “The Google” will ding you for people that quickly leave.

Write Content A Broad Audience Will Love

I decided I would write content that I knew would appeal to a large portion of any of the groups I was in and that I would not post anything in a group that I felt would cause them to bounce off of my website without spending a little time reading.

After spending way to much time researching, I decided that the list of posts I would create for groups would include:

  • How To (Make Money, Design, Promote, Market, etc)
  • Income Reports
  • Guides (Like This One)
  • Resources
  • Reviews

These are topics that most people in business groups want. Now the trick is to write content that people will want to read and KEEP reading once they are there.

Interact with Other Group Post Posters

Whew, that’s a mouthful. In most groups, it’s the rule, but I have discovered if I go way above and beyond, my traffic and feedback is insane. I once commented about niches and then interacted with about five times the group rules number and booked five consulting calls. Also, people love to venture off to see who was interacting on their posts. If you leave a comment on their blog, they likely reciprocate. And, let’s just admit that backlinks are awesome.

Basically, posting and responding to multiple people takes time, but it’s a worthwhile investment.

Put it On Your Calendar (or Subscribe)

One of the problems I have ran into with being in so many groups is that it’s easy to miss important things. If Tuesday is promo day in group x, Thursday for group y and then multiply that by the 47 groups you’re in, that’s a lot of brain juice to remember where to post.
